Recycled Plastic Cap Benches Update
Thanks to you we did it! We collected 400 pounds of plastic bottle caps and Key Club purchased two more benches for WTS! Our sincerest gratitude to Marc Schergen for delivering the caps and retrieving the benches - all the way down to Evansville, IN!!!
But we’re not done yet!! We are hoping to revamp the landscaping around the school and will need more benches (and possibly picnic tables) to place outside. So we are asking that everyone PLEASE keep collecting CLEAN plastic lids to help us out! Just bring them to the front office!! Thank you!!
Earlier this quarter, Mrs. Rea’s Environmental Science classes researched threatened and endangered species. Both classes presented information on the Monarch Butterfly, and were very excited when Mrs. Vanessa Moore, one of our WTS parents, provided us with caterpillars and chrysalis for hatching! We are proud to say that they all hatched, and have been tagged and released! Hopefully we will receive confirmation that they made it to their overwintering location. Our sincerest gratitude to Mrs. Moore for providing all the materials for this project, especially the daily milkweed that the very hungry caterpillars devoured!

This has been an exciting few years for our WTHS Key Club. We have had several members serving on the state (district) board, with more students interested in running for higher office at the convention in March later this school year! Currently, the following students are serving on the state board:
Executive Committee
Governor- Paige Hein
Webmaster- Samantha Bunag
District Committee Lieutenant Governors
Duneland Division - Jason Bunag
Arrowhead Division - Gage Gonzalez
Sagamore Division - Madalyn Richardson
On Tuesday, September 19th, Jason Bunag and Mrs. Rea planned and hosted a Key Club mixer for all the clubs affiliated with the Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis, our sponsor. The event included a service project, ice breakers, information about state events, presentation of the Governor’s project, and, of course, food! This was a great way for students from other schools to get to know one another and learn more about Key Club International.
Congratulations to Emma Gilbert, Eli Powell and Jacob Barker for being selected to this year's "All Region Honor Band"! The All Region Honor Band will perform at Portage High School at 4pm on Sunday, November 12th.
