Following their sectional contest at Morgan Township, the Washington Township Girls’ Basketball program demonstrated exemplary character and sportsmanship that extended far beyond the final buzzer. Despite the disappointment of a hard-fought loss, members of the team—along with several assistant coaches—voluntarily stayed after the game to assist Morgan Township administration with the breakdown of the gymnasium.
In a moment when emotions can understandably run high, these student-athletes chose service, respect, and teamwork. Their willingness to help the host school without being asked reflects the values that Washington Township’s Girls’ Basketball program instills in its athletes: humility in defeat, gratitude for opportunity, and a commitment to doing what is right.
This act did not go unnoticed. It served as a powerful reminder that success in athletics is measured not only by wins and losses, but by character, leadership, and the example set for others. Washington Township’s players and coaches should be commended for representing their school, community, and program with class and integrity.
This is the team's second IHSAA report of the season.
On you Senators!
