Congratulations to the Washington Township Middle School Academic Team on capturing their 13th Team Championship at the WTMS Academic Invitational presented by Blythe's Team Sports. This was Team Senator’s 11th Team Title out of the last 12 Invitationals held.
Pacing Team Senator were the English Team consisting of Steven Cannon, Karson Kish and Liam Swaitkowski. In a back a forth battle with Union Township, Team Senator was able to correctly answer a question over the poem “The Red Poppy” to defeat Union Township by a score of 24-23.
The Science team of Addison Peres, Jacob Barker and Kirk VarnHagen continued the winning ways for Team Senator as they led a sweep of the podium of Washington Township teams scoring a 23 out of 25. WT Red was second and WT White was third.
Rounding out the victories for Team Senator was the Social Studies team of Addison Peres and Karson Kish which needed to overcome a fast start by Hobart and by question 14 had reeled the Brickies in and go on to a 4 question margin of victory.
The Interdisciplinary team finished second while the math team placed ninth.
Team Senator will be back in action Saturday, April 27th when they take on the entire state in the annual Area/State competition at LaPorte. Thanks to everyone who came out, supported and helped out Team Senator.
