April 20

 

Builders Club wants to thank everyone who has donated so far to Lakeshore Paws.  Starting today, if you bring in dog leashes, soft dog treats, or other dog items, you will get DOUBLE the raffle tickets.  The drawing for the baskets will be on Monday, April 26. Items are being collected before school in the atrium or you can drop them off in Mrs. Campbell’s room.  Don’t miss out on the chance to win one of the baskets!    



Any 8th grade and HS player interested in playing boys basketball next season, our first open gym will be on Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:00 pm in the Senator Gym

April 19

 

Builders Club is collecting items for Lakeshore Paws.  They are in need of paper towels, laundry soap, soft dog treats, leashes, and dog toys.  If you bring in an item that is needed, you can enter into a raffle for different baskets.  Items will be collected before school in the atrium where you will be able to see the baskets that are being raffled off.  Items will be collected thru Thursday, April 22.  Any questions, see Mrs. Campbell, Ms. Travelbee, or a Builders Club member.  



Girls basketball will have open gyms beginning this week on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6pm-8pm.  All middle school and high school girls are invited.

 

 

High School band members don’t forget to meet in the Senator Gym by 7pm today to record our virtual contest.

April 16

Both the boys and girls varsity track teams won their meet last night against Lake Station.  The girls placed first in EVERY event, except one.  First place finishers included Claire Horvath in High Jump and the 3200, Olivia Martinez in long jump, 400, and 200, Callie Feldsein in the 100 and 300 hurdles, Alicia Flores in the 100, Lily Martin in the 1600 and 800, Alexa Meccia in shot, and the 4x100 team of Claire Horvath, Alicia Flores, Callie Feldsein, and Olivia Martinez and the 4x400 team of Lily Martin, Callie Feldsein, Claire Horvath, and Alicia Flores.  The boys also had some top finishers last night, with 10 first place finishes.  These included Tyler Hachey in high jump and 800, Nick Sears in long jump and the 200, Matthew Mecchia in the 110 hurdles, Gavin Hein in the 1600, Michael Brickner in 300 hurdles and 3200, and the 4x800 team of Michael Brickner, Brandon Peters, Aaron Suprenaut, and Gavin Hein, and the 4x400 team of Nick Sears, Gavin Hein, Anthony Henry, and Matthew Mecchia.  Good job, team!

 

April 15

 

Seniors:  The local scholarships are now available!!!  See Mrs. Symer for the applications, which are due back to her by Monday, the 19th, along with 2 letters of recommendation.  

 

8th and HS Boys Basketball - Reminder first payment for Super Hoops is due  Friday.

April 14

The boys and girls varsity track team lost a hard fought battle last night to Kouts and Morgan, almost pulling off a victory, even while down a couple players.  MVP for the night goes to Michael Brickner, who stepped up in many ways for our team, winning the 300 Hurdles.  Other first place finishers included Edgar Cavanaugh in the 100 Meter Dash, Tyler Hachey in the 1600 and 800, Claire Horvath in high jump, Alicia Flores in 100 Meter Dash, Olivia Martinez in the 400 and 200, Alexa Mecchia in Discus, and the 4X100 teams of Claire Horvath, Alicia Flores, Callie Feldsein, and Olivia Martinez, and Michael Brickner, Edgar Cavanaugh, Matthew Mecchia, and Nick Sears.  Good performance, team!

 

April 13

 

All  Top Ten Students need to stop by the office to pick up their banquet invitations. The dinner is scheduled for May 16. You will pick up an invitation for  you and your parents and a second invitation for your honored teacher. Dinner reservations are due by April 30. Your letters are due to Mrs. Lipinski

Key CLub Members - we need more help for the Elementary School Carnival after school this Friday!  Please check Classroom and sign up for some shifts!  You know you'll have as much fun (if not more) than the elementary kids!!  Also, make sure you help out at the home track meets.  Again, sign up on Classroom!!

 

Don't miss the big event, Prom tickets on sale today till Thursday. Come to the art room and buy your tickets.

HS Boys Basketball: Reminder that our awards night will be on Monday, April 12th, @ 5:30 pm in the cafeteria.



Those students being inducted into the Business Honor Society.....applications and fee are due on Friday.   Induction will take place on Monday during SRT.



Good luck goes out to the WTMS Academic Team as they participate in the WTMS Virtual Academic Invitational today after school.  Other schools participating virtually are Ben Franklin MS, Hobart MS, and River Forest MS.  All Team Senator members are to report to Mr. Atwood's room (E111) before 3pm after school.



The boys and girls varsity track team had their first outing last night against River Forest and Illiana Christian at home. The boys’ team came in 1st with all around great individual performances. First place finishers included Matthew Mecchia in the 110 Hurdles, Tyler Hachey in the mile and 800, Dylan Boyd in the 400, Nick Sears in Long Jump, James Gilbert in High Jump, and the 4x400 team of Tyler Hachey, Dylan Boyd, Nick Sears, and James Gilbert. The girls’ team performed well individually, with first place finishes by Callie Feldsein in 100 Hurdles, Claire Horvath in High Jump, and Olivia Martinez in the 400, 200, and a NEW SCHOOL RECORD jump of 16’11” in long jump! Congratulations Olivia and good job girls!-

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors! Please check your email for the Prom Song Requests Google Form sent yesterday. Please help by filling this out so that we can have a music playlist for Prom this year. The sooner the form is completed, the more likely your song will be part of the playlist. Also, ticket sales for Prom start next week from April 13th through April 15th ONLY. Make sure you have a completed permission slip and payment ready by next week. There will not be extensions for ticket sales.

If you are between 15 and 18 years old and looking for a summer job, consider working at the Indiana Dunes National Park!  Applications are available online at www.nps.gov/indu



Juniors - now is the time to register for the May SAT.  Register online through your College Board account by April 8th.  Please see Mrs. Symer if a fee waiver is needed.  

 

   

Key Club members, please check Classroom for upcoming volunteer opportunities!  We have been asked to help out at some home track meets and the volunteer form is available and filling up fast!  We will also be assisting at the Elementary School Carnival on April 16th - stay tuned for more info on that!  You guys rock!!

Middle School student council members who want to participate in this year's virtual conference, please bring $10 to Mrs. Moore or Mrs. Walla.  It will be held on  Friday, April 30th from 9am until 1pm.   Lunch will be provided.

When you return to lunch today, please sit where you would like.  We will be creating a new seating chart today.  There will be tables with partitions for students who would still like to sit there.  Please remember, that students can sit 4 to a table and please spread apart.

 

April 1st

 

Prom will take place May 8th at Duneland Hall Banquet Center.

We will be passing out prom Invitations and permission slips to all Junior and Seniors during SRT today. All Junior and Seniors if you are in vocational you can pick up your Prom  invitation and permission slips in the art room before you leave today.

We will be selling Prom tickets April 13, 14 and 15 before/ after school and during passing periods You must have a permission slip signed to  buy a ticket for prom. These three days are the only time you can buy a ticket if you plan on going to prom. If any student has a question about Prom see Mrs Walla.
