Daily Student Announcements

March 24

Yesterday's Oreo Challenge individual was none other than our very own Mrs. Bertha Bell.  We really never know when she is joking or being serious.

Please check the lost and found table. We will be clearing it off before spring break.

We will have a senior meeting for all seniors that have Ivy Tech Dual Credits. The meeting will be 1st hour on Tuesday after we return from spring break. Mrs. Lipinski will call you down. Ms. Frye from Ivy Tech will help us during the meeting. You will learn how to complete certificates at no cost to you.

March 23

The number 1 answer to Monday's oreo challenge was Miss Ault, however that wasn't the right answer.  The correct answer was Mrs. Gulbrandson.  Fun fact, Mrs. Gulbranson and Mrs. Peres went to Germany together with their high school German class.

Tuesday's Oreo Challenge was Mrs. Barkas.  She grew up as the baby of 6 kids and went on to raise 5 kids of her own.  She says raising 5 wonderful humans is her best accomplishment.

Today's Oreo Challenge individual is also the youngest of a large family.  With 7 siblings this individual grew up in the largest family of all WT faculty and staff.  If this individual had to choose a different job it would be a zookeeper.  This individual relaxes by hiking.  His or her favorite vacation was going camping though Canada.  If this individual was a superhero, his/her super power would be to keep people guessing, because we never know when this individual is joking or serious.

Tomorrow, all staff and students in the middle and high school may contribute $1 to wear Pajamas to School!! What a way to start off our Spring Break!  If you bring in  $2 or more, you will get an extra surprise!  Please stop by the table in the atrium to make your donation and get your surprise!  All proceeds benefit the Youth Opportunity Fund of Kiwanis.

Girls basketball will continue its middle school open practices this week.

Tonight from  6-7:30 in the Senator gym

Please check the lost and found table. We will be clearing it off before spring break.

For any 8th grade boy who plans on playing HS basketball there will be a short meeting with Coach Bowersock today at lunch to get Super Hoops Information.

Congratulations Mrs. Earle! It is with excitement that our Ivy Tech K14 team announces that Laci Earle from Washington Township High School, was chosen as the Dual Credit Faculty of the Year for the Ivy Tech Valparaiso, Michigan City, and LaPorte campus. Her excellence shines through in her student-centered approach to teaching.

OERO Challenge

This individual has driven a NASCAR at 148 mph.  In the spring, you may find this person cheering for the Cubs.  This person may write, right handed but will throw a ball left handed. As a student this person participated in track.  This individual is accustomed to being with many people as he or she was raised in a large family with 6 kids and then had many kids as an adult.  If this person would work somewhere other than WT it would be a craft store.   This person is one of WT's biggest supporters.

Third quarter honor rolls are posted in the Atrium and outside of the Media Center.

Congratulations to all of our hard-working students!

Good luck and do your best goes out to the WTMS Academic Team as they host the 18th Annual WTMS Academic Invitational today at 4:45pm in the Senator Gym.  Schools participating are Ben Franklin MS, Boone Grove MS, Fegley MS, Hobart MS, River Forest MS, Union Township MS and Washington Township MS.  WTMS is the defending champion.  WTMS Academic Team members need to report to Mr. Atwood's room (E111) after school today.

Let's have some fun this week and help a great cause at the same time!  On Friday, all staff and students in the middle and high school may contribute $1 to wear Pajamas to School!! What a way to start off our Spring Break!  If you bring in  $2 or more, you will get an extra surprise!  Please stop by the table in the atrium to make your donation and get your surprise!  All proceeds benefit the Youth Opportunity Fund of Kiwanis.

Let the Great Oreo Challenge begin.  Every morning we will give details about a member of the faculty or staff.  Each first hour has until 8 AM to submit the google form to guess who the person may be.  Each class successfully guessing will get oreos.  Today's individual's favorite holiday is Christmas.    As a student, this person was involved in track, basketball and swimming.  One of the best vacations this person went on was to Germany.  He or she likes superhero movies and in order to relax enjoys reading and gardening.

Please bring in food items to donate to Hilltop House!  We are asking for canned fruit and vegetables, cereal, spaghetti and sauce, paper towels and toilet paper, whatever you could possibly donate.  The Hilltop Food Pantry serves approximately 1800 individuals PER MONTH year-round and we would love to make an impressive donation to help them.  Won't you please help?  If everyone could bring in 2 canned items, that would make a big difference!  Please bring donations to Mrs. Rea's classroom.

We need everyone's help with a challenge that Morgan Twp has given to Washington.  This is for both middle and high school.  We are holding a food drive, beginning on Monday and continuing until March 24th, to see which school can bring in the most food items for Hilltop House.  That gives us two weeks to bring in as many items as we possibly can.  Not only will we have fun beating Morgan, but we will be doing a wonderful thing for the community as well.  See the posters around school or on our WTS Facebook Page to see which foods can be donated and their point value.  The school with the most points wins.  We're counting on you to help us!  Please bring all food donations to Mrs Rea's classroom.  We thank you all for your help!

Please remember to sign up for our blood drive which is taking place next Wednesday, February 8th, at Heartland Christian Center.  Please encourage your family, friends and neighbors to donate for this extremely worthwhile cause!  Not only are we saving lives, but we are earning three scholarships for our EPCSC students.  As an added bonus, everyone who donates will receive a $10 Amazon e-card!  If you are 16 and wish to donate, Mrs. Rea has the forms that your parents need to sign.  If you are 17 or older, no parental permission is needed.  Also keep in mind that if you donate blood 3 times before graduation, you will get a red cord to wear along with your cap and gown.  See Mrs. Rea if you have any questions!

How much chat could a cute cat chat if a cute cat could chat cat?  A cute cat would cat chat all day if he could, if a cute cat could chat cat.

Everyone is also asked to vote for their favorite cat this week!  Pictures of the four candidates can be seen on the poster in the office.  Buckets will be set out before school each day.  You are asked to donate pennies or paper money to your favorite cat to earn points, and add quarters and dimes to the other buckets because they will count as negative points!  All proceeds go to the Independent Cat Society to continue all the good they do for our furry friends.

A cute cat can cheerfully chat about chewy chocolate chips to a chap.  That cat would say, "Meow, meow" which translates into "please buy cookies from a Key Club member to help us get more benches for WTS!"  Be a cheery chum and help!
