January 22nd

 

Attention MS Student Council members.  If you would like to help plan our leadership workshop, please come down to Mrs. Moore's SRT on Tuesday.



Congratulations to the Middle School student council for achieving Gold Level Honor Council Status for the 2019-2020 school year.   This marks 10 years as an honor council.

 

January 21st

 

Freshmen L-Z please report to the media center for SRT today.  Bring a pencil or pen!

 

Congratulations to the DECA team for their awesome performance at our district competition (see list of students displayed).     High school members who placed have earned a spot to compete at the state level.      We are selling Gelsosomos pizzas again this year to help cover the cost of state.  Please see a DECA member or Mrs. Moore if you would like to order some delicious pizzas.  

 

 The Lady Senators played in the semi-finals of the PCC Tournament at  South Central against the Lady Satellites.  Although all six of these girls played tremendously hard, they fell to SC, 52-34.  Our Ladies were led in scoring by Sophomore Addie Graf, who scored twenty-five points.  Diminutive Sophomore, Josie Whitcomb also had a big game by grabbing ten rebounds. The Ladies next game is Saturday morning at Westville.

Today there will be  a Middle School Student Council meeting during SRT.  Come to the art room. Make sure you get a pass from Mrs Moore or Mrs Walla ahead of time for the meeting.

Congratulations to the DECA team for achieving Thrive Level in the Chapter Campaign again this year.  



The WT Boys Basketball team advanced to the semi-finals in the PCC Tournament by defeating Morgan Township 54 to 49 last night. Leading the way for the Senators were Tyler Hachey with 21 points, and James Hernandez with 20 points. Cameron Andrews led the defensive charge with high level energy sparking our team. The Senators are now 6-3 on the season.

January 19

January 18

FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. Morgan Township is opening their FFA chapter to high school and middle school students at Washington. If you're interested in being involved, you are invited to virtually attend the FFA meeting on Friday, January 15th. The high school FFA meeting starts at 2:00PM and the middle school meeting starts at 3:00PM. Please email Miss Rachel Stoner (stoner@eastporter.k12.in.us) if you would like to attend and she will send you the Google Meet information! If you are unable to attend but are interested, still email Miss Stoner and let her know.

The high school FFA meeting starts at 2:00PM and the middle school meeting starts at 3:00PM. If you are unable to attend but are interested, still email Miss Stoner and let her know. 



The Lady Senators basketball team traveled to Lake Station last night and unfortunately were defeated.  Our girls were led by Sophomore Addie Graf’s 19 points.  Junior Andie Graf also chipped in with four points and six rebounds.  

 

    Our girls next play at South Central Wednesday night against either South Central or Morgan Twp.

Vocational applications are due by February 1st.  Apply online at pccte.org.

If you were an online learner at any point this year, we would love for you to share a photo of you online learning from home. Please check your emails to see if you received an email from Mrs. Leighty or Maddi Fausnaugh. Please send photos by Friday January the 15th.

Were you sick sometime in the past year and wonder whether you had Covid?  Well, if you donate blood at the Blood Drive on Thursday, you can find out whether or not it really was Covid!!  Sign ups are outside of Mrs. Rea's door.  For those of you who are donating, please make sure you eat well this week, drink plenty of water, and get plenty of sleep!  Thank you for your generous gift!  You will save at least three lives!!

   Your Lady Senators basketball team traveled to Morgan Twp last night and although they played well, ended up losing, 46-29.  Our ladies were led by Andie Graf’s 11 points. Josie Whitcomb and Addie Graf each grabbed six rebounds and Addie Graf took two charges.  The girls next play at Lake Station Thursday.

 

 

 

 The WT Boys Basketball team won a hard fought on the road vs Westville last night by a score of 66 to 61 to improve their record on the season to 5-2. Leading the way for the Senators was James Hernandez with 26 points. The WT JV Boys Basketball team won last night by a score of 43 to 39. 

January 12

February 5th is the priority deadline to get your online vocational applications submitted.

 

Were you sick sometime in the past year and wonder whether you had Covid?  Well, if you donate blood at the Blood Drive on Thursday, you can find out whether or not it really was Covid!!  Sign ups are outside of Mrs. Rea's door.  For those of you who are donating, please make sure you eat well this week, drink plenty of water, and get plenty of sleep!  Thank you for your generous gift!  You will save at least three lives!!

Friday night our Lady Senators basketball team hosted LaCrosse and lost in overtime by two points.  Our girls were led by Sophomore Addie Graf’s 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Mikaela Armstrong chipped in with 8 points and six rebounds. The girls next game is Tuesday night at Morgan Twp.

Please remember to sign up during lunch TODAY to donate blood next Thursday.  Make sure you drink plenty of water between now and then, get lots of rest, and eat good, nutritious food.  Also remember to bring a photo ID with you to the Blood Drive.

January 6

Our first Blood Drive will be held next Thursday, January 14th.  The area is in desperate need of blood, so we hope you will consider being a donor!  Sign ups will be during lunch this Thursday, or you may sign up outside of Mrs. Rea's room after that.  The Blood Mobile will be coming back, and they will be following social distancing protocol and allow only one person on the bus at a time.  You will receive a bracelet the day of the drive to remind you of the time you signed up for your donation.  You may sign up if you are 17 or older.  If you are 16, you must turn in a parent permission form.  Please see Mrs. Rea if you have any questions!  

 

Over the last two nights our Lady Senators basketball team has played two games.  On Monday night, Kouts played our ladies in Senator gym and beat our girls by nine.  Sophomore Addie Graf led our team in scoring with 19 points.  Junior, Andie Graf chipped in with ten.  Senior Mikaela Armstrong grabbed nine rebounds. Last night the girls traveled to Whiting and beat the Lady Oilers, 38-22.  Mikaela Armstrong led the Lady  Senators balanced scoring attack pouring in 13 points and dishing out five assists, while Addie Graf had 11 and five respectively.  Senior Jocelynn Ewing and Sophomore Josie Whitcomb each contributed with six points. The Lady Senators, who are now 8-3, play their next game this Friday night at home against LaCrosse.

                     All students, please be sure to check your schedules in Skyward if you haven’t already.  There have      been a lot of recent changes to help balance class sizes.
