6th and 7th grade boys basketball: Reminder that basketball camp forms are due today!!. You can turn them into Mrs. Barkas in the office.



Hey Key Clubbers!!  It has been proven that peppy people producing puffy pancakes puts plenty of perfect positivity and pleasant possibilities in Valparaiso.   The Kiwanians really do need our help for the Pancake Breakfast, and we only have 4 volunteers signed up  Won't you please come out to the Expo Center on Sunday, June 6th and help out?  Sign up under "Volunteer Opportunities" on Key Club Classroom before you leave school today!

HS boys basketball: Open gym on Thursday is cancelled.

 

Last night the girls' Varsity team ran their Regional meet at Portage.  Olivia Martinez placed 2nd in long jump and 2nd in the 400 meter dash, qualifying her for the state meet next Saturday.  Congratulations Olivia on an exciting end to the season, and good luck next week!

Attention Seniors-If you ordered a yearbook and your family is moving away from the town of Valpo after this summer, please make sure that Mrs. Leighty has an updated address. If Mrs. Leighty does NOT have an updated address, your yearbook will NOT be shipped to the correct location. If you are unsure, please send Mrs. Leighty via email your updated home address.

 

Attention all breakfast lovers!  Kiwanis is hosting their annual all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast at the Expo Center on Sunday, June 6th.  If you buy tickets in advance, they are only $6 apiece!  You will pay $8 at the door, so get your tickets now!  Please bring your money for the tickets to Mrs. Rea by  Wednesday!

 

Key Club members, we need volunteers to sign up to help!  See our Classroom page to sign up!  Start earning your hours for next year now!!

Good luck this week at regionals to Olivia Martinez and Claire Horvath, who compete tonight at Portage in long jump, the 400 meter dash, and high jump, and to James Gilbert, who qualified for high jump, and Tyler Hachey, who qualified in the 1600. The boys compete at Crown Point on Thursday. Come and support WT’s athletes!

The 17th and 18th are mandatory tryout clinics from 4:30 to 6:30PM, and the 19th is an optional additional practice. Auditions will be held on Saturday, the 22nd at 4PM. See the flyers posted in the hallways to join our Band App group to stay up to date on all updates and information.

 

Any current high school student or incoming freshman interested in playing girls varsity soccer please see coach Mecchia in the cafeteria during your lunch hour TODAY.  He will be available for all middle school and high school lunch periods.  Summer practice is scheduled to begin on July 7th.

Gelsosomo’s Pizzeria in Valpo is currently hiring for several positions. They offer a fun work environment, with flexible hours. Anyone interested, please call or stop in the restaurant and speak to a manager. Experience is not necessary.

Grand March will start at 5:00 in our Senator gym, if you would like pictures taken it will be at 4:30 to 5:45. Parents and family members are welcome at  Grand March. You all must be at Duneland Falls at 6:30. Come in the main doorway. Prom ends at 9:30

Boys and Girls Varsity track ran in the Kouts invite this Saturday; the boy's team placed 5th and the girl's placed 4th overall.  Top finishers included Matthew Mecchia in the 110 hurdles, Callie Feldsein in the 100 hurdles, Alicia Flores in the 100 and 200 meter dash, Tyler Hachey in the 1600, Anthony Henry in discus and shot put, Brandon Peters in shot put, Alexa Mecchia in shot put and discus, Lily Martin in the 800, Nick Sears in the 200 and long jump, Claire Horvath in high jump and pole vault, Olivia Martinez in the 400, 200, and long jump, Michael Brickner in the 300 hurdles and 3200, Melissa Krawxzyk in the 300 hurdles, the 4x100 teams of Alicia Flores, Callie Feldsein, and Olivia Martinez and James Gilbert, Edgar Cavanaugh, Matthew Mecchia, and Nick Sears, and the 4x400 teams of Nick Sears, Dylan Boyd, Tyler Hachey, and James Gilbert and Lily Martin, Alicia Flores, Melissa Krawczyk, and Claire Horvath.  Olivia Martinez also broke the Kouts invite record in long jump, set previously in 1985.  The new record is now a jump of 17'10 1/2"  Great job everyone!

 

Good luck goes out to the WTMS Academic Team as they participate in the Indiana Virtual Academic Super Bowl-Jr. Division Area/State Meet today after school.

Seniors- you will be taking the whole group Cap & Gown photo THIS Thursday. Individual photos will be taken during 1st-hour classes. Students need to wear their cap and gowns. It is recommended that you remove the cap/gown from the package prior to see if it needs to be steamed or ironed. Students need to wear appropriate clothing to go under the gown. Females are to wear dress pants/dresses/skirts with appropriate shoes (no tennis shoes, flip flops). Males are to wear dress pants (no jeans/shorts) with appropriate shoes. Males also need to wear a collared shirt. Online ordering information has been sent to seniors and parents. Don't forget to bring your cap and gowns! 



Builders Club would like to thank  everyone who donated to Lakeshore Paws!  We collected 34 jugs of laundry soap, 47 leashes, 21 rolls of paper towels, 44 bags of dog treats, and 12 dog toys. Now for the winners of the raffle baskets:

Congratulations to our High School Band for receiving a Gold rating at ISSMA Large Group contest!!!

 

Seniors will be taking their Cap & Gown photo Thursday, April 29th during 1st hour. Photos will be taken individually. Seniors will be called down from their 1st-hour classes. Seniors should still report to their first-hour class at the start of the day. If you attend morning vocational, be sure that you come to school right away. If you are not present, you will not be in the photo. Don't forget to bring your cap/gown!!!   Please see Mrs. Leighty if you have questions.

Girls basketball will have open gyms beginning this week on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6pm-8pm.  All middle school and high school girls are invited.

Builders Club is collecting items for Lakeshore Paws.  They are in need of paper towels, laundry soap, soft dog treats, leashes, and dog toys.  If you bring in an item that is needed, you can enter into a raffle for different baskets.  Items will be collected before school in the atrium where you will be able to see the baskets that are being raffled off.  Items will be collected thru Thursday, April 22.  Any questions, see Mrs. Campbell, Ms. Travelbee, or a Builders Club member.

Both the boys and girls varsity track teams won their meet last night against Lake Station.  The girls placed first in EVERY event, except one.  First place finishers included Claire Horvath in High Jump and the 3200, Olivia Martinez in long jump, 400, and 200, Callie Feldsein in the 100 and 300 hurdles, Alicia Flores in the 100, Lily Martin in the 1600 and 800, Alexa Meccia in shot, and the 4x100 team of Claire Horvath, Alicia Flores, Callie Feldsein, and Olivia Martinez and the 4x400 team of Lily Martin, Callie Feldsein, Claire Horvath, and Alicia Flores.  The boys also had some top finishers last night, with 10 first place finishes.  These included Tyler Hachey in high jump and 800, Nick Sears in long jump and the 200, Matthew Mecchia in the 110 hurdles, Gavin Hein in the 1600, Michael Brickner in 300 hurdles and 3200, and the 4x800 team of Michael Brickner, Brandon Peters, Aaron Suprenaut, and Gavin Hein, and the 4x400 team of Nick Sears, Gavin Hein, Anthony Henry, and Matthew Mecchia.  Good job, team!
