ATTENTION ALL HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS WITH CLASSES! PLEASE check your email for a google form from Student Council! It is for the Oreo Challenge! One thing that we would like participates to know is that speed matters! If there is a tie at the end of the semester, the time will determine the winner. Here are today’s clues!

Clue #1: This staff member has jumped out of an airplane.

Clue #2: While backpacking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, a bear broke into their hanging food bag while they were sleeping nearby.

Clue #3: This person loves fishing for smallmouth bass in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. 

 

Good luck to everyone and make sure you have your responses in by 8:00 am if you want your submission to count.

The girls soccer banquet will be Monday (11/18) at 5:30 PM.

 

DECA's t-shirt and pin design is due on Friday.  The theme is out of this world. Anyone can participate in these two events, you do not need to be a DECA member.     

 

The DECA Idea Challenge mystery item will be announced on Friday.   Anyone in grades 6 through 12 may form teams of 3 to 5 members. You do not need to be a DECA member to participate in this global competition.      Please see Mrs. Moore for more information.  

 

There will be a meeting at lunch today…..in Mrs. Moore's room for MIDDLE SCHOOL DECA members.

 

There will be a High School DECA meeting Friday at lunch in Mrs. Moore's room.    

 

 The WT Lady Senators had their first game last night against the River Forest Lady Ingots.  The girls won the game, 55-32. Olivia Klinger had 19 points, 5 rebounds and only one turnover.  

      Mia Lewis had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals and took two charges, while Mikaela Armstrong scored 12 points, had 7 rebounds, 4 steals and only two turnovers. The ladies next game is at home tomorrow night vs Hammond High.

Ready for some music?  WTHS Annual Talent Show is happening this Saturday, November 9th.  It begins at 7:00pm in the Elementary Multi-Purpose Room. Hear the talent from WT sing and play their souls out!  Cost is $4.00 per person.

 

Key Club  and Student Council Members, remember that this Friday is our trip to Indy for the International Festival!  Meet in the atrium so we can leave as soon as possible on Friday. Those who are not going on the field trip, there is an opportunity for you to earn an hour by going to a meeting at Hobart High School from 5 - 8 PM and makING dog toys and blankets. Please enter through Door 2 at the school entrance.  If anyone has extra t-shirts that they can donate for this event, please bring them to Mrs. Rea's room by Friday morning!!.  

 

DECA - your dues and field trip forms are due on Friday. 

 

On Monday we will have a homecoming meeting and also all class officers and anyone else in the class we will be picking a banner for homecoming during this time in the art room at lunch. All

Last night the High School Spell Bowl team participated in the Area Spell Bowl competition at LaPorte High School. They earned  the highest score at the competition with a score of 52 and placed first place in Class 4 at the competition. Jenn Cahillane and Quinlan Scott both were perfect spellers in their rounds.  The other participating members were Cameron Andrews, Katey Clark, Taylor Schumann, Tyler Peters, Allison Haines, Kaylee Reeder, Katie Evans, and Gunnar Casbon, all adding to the successful night.  The team will find out if they qualify for state today.

Seniors:  Need FAFSA help?  Ivy Tech’s Valpo campus is hosting College Goal Sunday on November 3rd from 2 ‘til 4 p.m.  Bring a parent and your 2018 tax information and a financial aid expert will help you file your FAFSA for free!

Builders Club would like to thank all of the middle school students and staff who participated in the Pajama Dress Up Day and those who wore their Halloween costumes to school.  With your amazing participation, we are donating $224.50 to UNICEF. Thank you!

 

Key Club Members who volunteered to help at the bowling event this Saturday, please listen carefully.  The event will be held at Stardust Bowling Alley in Merrillville, NOT at Inman's. If you cannot make it, I understand, but if you could try to be there they could really use the help!  Thank you!!

 

Play practice tonight from 6:30-8 pm in choir room. Check your schedules to see if you are in Act 2, scenes 4, 5 & Epilogue. This includes middle and high school students that are in the play. This is the last rehearsal before cast is "off script

I often receive notes like this from the community.  Believe me, when I say you are an AMAZING group of students, I'm not the only one who thinks so!  Our Key Club could not be successful without all of you.  From the bottom of my heart, I thank you and look forward to working with you more and more!

Attention Middle School Students!  You can wear your Halloween costume to school on Thursday by donating $1 to UNICEF.  Costumes must follow dress code guidelines and no masks may be worn.

 

High school students, bring a dollar and wear your halloween costumes to school tomorrow for halloween! All of the proceeds will be donated to breast cancer awareness month. Make sure costumes are school appropriate and follow the school dress code! A big thank you from student council!

Juniors and seniors:  Are you thinking about becoming a teacher?  VU is hosting an event on November 6th - “Discover the Art of Teaching”.  Register online by Monday, the 28th at valpo.edu/education.

 

Senior Most Sign Off Sheets are due to Mrs. Leighty, Jablonski, or Gabby Newton by Thursday. If not submitted, senior-most award will go to the next runner up. Senior Most MUST be signed by the student and a parent or guardian!! Slips will not be accepted without guardian's signature.   Again...the slips MUST be signed by a parent as well. 

 

Students working for SPOOK NIGHT be at school by 6:00 today to set up for the event. We will be in the MPR .

The Middle School dance will be next Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00. Cost is $5, we will be selling pop and pizza at the dance for a $1. Wear you Halloween costume for the dance.

 

How would you like to experience what it feels like to be in a tornado?  You can do it if you join the Science Club on a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry!  The date is Saturday, December 14th and the cost is only $13! See Mr. Hutson or Mrs. Rea for permission slips!

 

Those of you who signed up to help at Manda's Race, remember it is this Saturday!  Wear your costumes and take lots of pictures!

 

Junior Honor Society and Honor Society is selling taffy apples for $2 See Mrs Moore or Mrs Walla if you would like to buy one.

We are having High School Parent conferences Wednesday night from 1:30 - 6:00. 

 

 

Today all high school students will  have a different schedule.. Please check your Google Classroom for the schedule. All grades will be rotating through Career College Ready presentations that will help you prepare for life. We really hope you learn and enjoy.  PLEASE BRING YOUR CHROMEBOOKS.

 

Students being Inducted to honor society be at school by 6:45 tonight. We will begin right at 7:00. You must attend to be in honor society. 

 

Attention Middle School Students!  Builders Club is sponsoring Pajama Day on Thursday.  Pay $1 and you can wear your pajamas to school and be ready to start Fall Break.  All money will go to UNICEF.

 

HS Boys Basketball: Open gym will be from 6 to 7:30 tonight. There will be no open gym tomorrow night or the rest of the week.

 

Play practice is cancelled for tonight. Please use this time to memorize lines and get caught up on homework! Our next rehearsal is next Monday, Oct 28.

Anyone age 16 or over (students/staff) interested in helping with the commissioning of the USS Indianapolis on Saturday October 26 at the Port of Indiana, stop by and see Mr. Simms this morning.

You would be expected to be at the Port of Indiana at 6 am and it will last until about noon.

 

 

Reminder: You are not to bring your chromebooks to lunch. We have had far too much damage to chromebooks over the past year and thus we are returning to the policy of not having them at lunch. This goes for middle school and high school students.

At Saturday’s Regional cross country competition Tyler Hachey places 22nd and qualified for the semi state meet.

Tonight is Trivia Night!  Question #5: What are you doing if you are flyting (pronounced FLY-TING) ?  If you know the answer, then you should come to the WTHS Choir's Trivia Night.  It is tonight at 7:00pm in the cafeteria.  Gather some friends to compete on a team. Cost is $5 a person.

 

Flyting is a verbal exchange of witty, insulting verses similar to a rap battle.  They were popular in England and Scotland from the 5th to 16th centuries.

Two days until Trivia Night!  Question #4: Who was the youngest president of the United States to assume office?  If you know the answer, then you should come to the WTHS Choir's Trivia Night.  It is this Friday night and starts at 7:00pm in the cafeteria.  Gather some friends to compete on a team. Cost is $5 a person.

 

Theodore Roosevelt was the youngest at 42 years and 322 days.  He assumed office after McKinley's assassination.

Sophomores and juniors, please report directly to your PSAT test site tomorrow (Wednesday).  Bring 2 pencils and a calculator!

Auditions for the MS/HS Talent Show will be on Saturday, Oct. 19th in the choir room.  A sign-up sheet is on Mrs. Wade's choir room door. There will be a few SRT times available beginning Oct. 15th, as well.  If you need a different time, please see Mrs. Wade. The talent show is Saturday November 9th at 7:00 PM in the MPR.

 

Homecoming meeting will take place today at lunch in the Art room.

 

There are extra yearbooks available for purchase for $70. Please see Mrs. Leighty. There is only a limited supply-first come, first served. Please make checks payable to WT. They will be available through the beginning of November.

Attention: Picture retake day is next Tuesday, Oct. 22nd. If you missed the original picture day or just really want a new picture taken please be prepared to get your photo taken on Tuesday. Seniors-if you missed the original picture day you MUST get your picture taken on this day. If you do not, you will not have an official senior photo.

 

Any middle school students joining any of the academic teams a reminder your rules signature page and 3 ring binder order form is due to Mr. Atwood, Mr. Feola or Mrs. Schrock by Thursday, October 17.

 

Three days until Trivia Night!  Question #3: What is Iggy Azalea's real name?  If you know the answer, then you should come to the WTHS Choir's Trivia Night.  It is this Friday night and starts at 7:00pm in the cafeteria.  Gather some friends to compete on a team. Cost is $5 a person.

 Because of the PSAT testing on Wednesday the vocational  bus will not leave until 12:15. Seniors you will need to find your own ride there on that day, if you ride the bus.

 

Sophomores and juniors, please report directly to your PSAT test site tomorrow (Wednesday).  Bring 2 pencils and a calculator! 

 

Auditions for the MS/HS Talent Show will be on Saturday, Oct. 19th in the choir room.  A sign-up sheet is on Mrs. Wade's choir room door. There will be a few SRT times available beginning Oct. 15th, as well.  If you need a different time, please see Mrs. Wade. The talent show is Saturday November 9th at 7:00 PM in the MPR.

 

MS STUDENT COUNCIL Meeting will take place on Today at lunch.

 

Homecoming meeting will take place Wed at lunch in the Art room.

 

There are extra yearbooks available for purchase for $70. Please see Mrs. Leighty. There is only a limited supply-first come, first served. Please make checks payable to WT. They will be available through the beginning of November.

At Saturday's Sectional cross country meet, Tyler Hachey individually qualified for the Regional competition next Saturday at Sunset Hill.
